Pohjola Rakennus creates new comfort zones seamlessly –
Congrid and HomeRun integration helps to deliver customer requests directly to the contractors
Pohjola Rakennus Group is Finnish construction company specializing in the construction of new apartment buildings, designing and building approximately 3,000 new homes annually. In new construction projects, there are many different parties involved, from project clients to home buyers and from suppliers to supervisors.
Jenna Kinnunen, a production engineer at Pohjola Rakennus Oy Suomi, which is part of the Group, is extensively involved in the construction projects from the initial planning stages to the handover of new properties.
There are many moving parts and a lot of hustle and bustle. The main tasks of digital tools are to make the lives of everyone involved in the construction project as easy as possible.
“We need seamless work processes because there is already so much to do on the construction sites. We want to keep everything as simple as possible,” Kinnunen states.
The collaboration between HomeRun and Congrid with Pohjola Rakennus began about two years ago. The roles of the software are clear: Congrid is used from the start of the construction site for handling quality inspections and safety rounds (in Finnish TR-mittaus). HomeRun is a tool for communication with residents and also allows for various material like tiles, faucets, etc. selections during new built or renovation process.
“We provide a turnkey e-commerce solution where customers can independently select tiles, faucets, and so on for their apartments,” says Paula Rantanen, HomeRun’s customer team contact person.
The integration built between Congrid and HomeRun allows information to flow seamlessly between the construction site and the end customer interfaces. Kinnunen sees two significant developments in this new integration:
“Previously, customers conducted their move-in inspections using paper forms. Now, information moves faster. No one has to wait for papers to move from one desk to another. No one also has to spend time entering information from forms,” Kinnunen states.
The second significant advantage Kinnunen highlights is the quality and reliability of the information.
“The ambiguity caused by handwriting is reduced when the message is conveyed to the construction site as the customer expressed it. The so-called ‘broken telephone’ effect is avoided,” Kinnunen notes.
In the future, customers can make warranty repair entries in HomeRun, from which the information will be transferred directly to Congrid.
“Now that we can also include photos, we can always see the repair target concretely. This will surely be a good thing,” Kinnunen concludes.
